FERDINANDO GRECO

Biography

Ferdinando greco was born in Italy at Rovello Porro in 1939. He graduated in Milan and was a teacher at Milan and Busto Arsizio Art-School. He exhibits for the first time in 1964, at Premio San Fedele. 
During the seventies he was part of Milan art community, and begins the series “Catalogo reperti” (Artifacts Catalog): tmanholes, chasubles, saints and portraits e ritratti as archeological objects in a moder Pompei.
During the eighties and nineties, the series “Paesaggi portati via” (Removed Landscapes) and  “Mutanti” (Mutants) address philosophical issues.
He takes part at solo exhibitions as at Pavia University, Collegio Cairoli (1978), Lausanne (1981) and Esslingen (1984), as well as group exhibitions as “Cara Morte” (Dear Death) in 1978, “Trash” at Trento and Rovereto Mart in 1997 and “Cult Images” at Valencia Museum in 1998, “Nel profondo”(In the Deep) at Voltorre Chiostro (Varese, Italy) and then at Ludwig Museum in Koblenz and Ratingen Museum des Stadt.
Ferdinando Greco took part at many editions of “Lo spirito del lago” (The Lake Spirit) a twenty year long yearly event at Isola Bella, Major Lake, where a group of international artists made installations at historic spaces.
