STEFANO CAGOL

Biography

Stefano Cagol (Trento, 1969) graduated at the Accademia di Brera in Milan and received a post-doctoral fellowship at Ryerson University in Toronto. In her last book issued in 2019 "Art, theory and practice in the Athropocene" Julie Reiss (Chrisitie's NYC) selected his work as one among 3 that best used glacial ice in art. In 2019 he will be part in the 30th anniversary exhibition of ZKM in Karlsruhe titled "Writing the history of the future". In 2018 he participated in the OFF Biennale Cairo and in 2017 in the exhibition for COP23, the international conference for climate change, at the German Ministry of Environment in Berlin (he became also part of the Ministry Collection). He took part of in Manifesta 11 in Zurich, the 55. Venice Biennale in 2013 invited by the Maldives Pavilion, the 54th Venice Biennale with a solo collateral event, the 4th Berlin Biennale with a special project and the 1st Singapore Biennale in 2006. In 2014-2015 his solo project "The Body of Energy (of the mind)" was presented at the MAXXI Museum in Rome, at Madre in Naples, at Maga in Gallarate, at Museion in Bolzano, at Kunsthalle St. Gallen, at ZKM in Karlsruhe and at Museum Folkwang in Essen. Among prizes and awards he is recipient of the Visit prize of the German foundation RWE (2014) and of the Terna Prize for Contemporary Art (2009). He participated in many artist in residence including: Cambridge Sustainability Residency; Air Bergen; Vir - Viafarini in residence in Milan; BAR International in Kirkenes; International Studio and Curatorial Program ISCP in New York; International Center of Photography in New York.
